Quasi-static Stark profiles of hydrogen Hsub(nα) lines in plasma

Description

On the basis of numerical calculations of quasi-static contours of the hydrogen Hsub(nα) lines, new formulae are derived for Stark halfwidths of these lines. The new formulae predict a difference by a factor of 7.5 from the commonly used asymptotic halfwidths. The universal function describing the quasi-static Stark contour of an Hsub(nα) line has been redetermined. The behaviour of the line intensity in the wing and in the central part of the contour is investigated. A comparison is performed with the results of observations of Stark contours of the lines of hydrogen-like ions emitted by laser plasma
