Allelopathy: a mew science to protect plants

Allelopathy is the direct influence of chemicals released from one plant on the development and growth if another plant. The effect has been known for many years, but has only recently been accepted scientifically as a legitimate area of research. It plays a significant role in the natural ecosystem and has the potential to become an important tool in cultivated ecosystem. Allelopathy can be used to increase crop-production, to cut down costs and to reduce the current reliance on synthetic agrochemicals that degrade the environmental quality. (author)
