Effect of radial power profile on endplate integrity

Description
Differential enrichment of uranium and/or radial gradients of neutron flux generally result in a non-uniform power profile along the radius of a CANDU fuel bundle. This bends the endplates. This paper describes a methodology to assess the resulting elastic/plastic stresses/strains in the endplate. A failure criterion is proposed, along with an illustrative example. (author)
