In this paper the spin range is extended and studied the rotational alignment and backbending effects in the doubly magic nucleus 40Ca since the microscopic structure is much better known in light nuclei than the deformed heavy nuclei. In the present work the cranked Nilsson Strutinsky model (CNSM) is used to study the nucleus 40Ca
