Electron ejection in collisions between swift heavy ions and atoms

Description
Angular-integrated differential cross sections for electron emission in ion-atom collisions are determined theoretically from binary stopping theory. Dependencies on beam energy and charge state are studied for specific examples, and separate distributions are shown for electrons emitted from the target and the projectile. Moreover, total as well as K-shell ionization cross sections are determined and compared to experiment
