Radiographic evaluation of transfixation osteosythesis for long bone fracture in goats
Description
Radiographic evaluation of osteosynthesis in tibial fracture repaired by percutaneous transfixation in 12 goats (6 in each in group I and II) were made at weekly interval. In group I three pins and in group II four pins were used for transfixation. In group I radiographic evidence of bigger external callus and slight alteration of longitudinal axis in isolated cases were discernible apart from delayed initiation of osteogenesis. In group II more organised osteogenesis was noticed by two weeks. By 4 weeks union with minimal periusteal callus was evident. Healing was complete by 6 weeks
