Camac 16-channel time-to-digital converter

  • 1. Joint Inst. for Nuclear Research, Dubna (USSR)

Description

A 16-channel time-to-digital converter is described in which the function of analog storing is introduced into the cells of time expanders. The flowsheet of the converter is given. It consists of 16 time expanders, NIM-TTL level converters, of decoder, a counter, a delay flip-flop oscillator and a differentiating circuit. The operation of a time expander cell is considered. The expander can be switched into a time interval storing mode (as a voltage level of a capacitor) using separate stop signals. The 16 channel time-to-digital converter is made in the CAMAC standard and is intended to operate with time-coordinate detectors with a number of gradations of 28 - 212. The conversion time is 6 to 90 μs, storage time is 6 ms, power consumption is 450 mW/channel
