Description

Eu2+, Dy3+: 40 Sr O-30 Si O2-30Al2 O3 glass, which shows bright and long-lasting phosphorescence, was investigated by XAFS spectroscopy. Based on the Eu en Dy LIII XANES spectra, we suggest that Eu2+ and Dy3+ ions do not directly act as hole and electron traps. Local structure around strontium in the glass is also studied by Sr K EXAFS analysis. The coordination number of strontium is smaller than that of crystalline Sr Al2 O4. (author)
