Computed tomography of the pancreas with and without contrast media
Description
The administration of oral and intravenous contrast media improves the differentiation between pancreas and small bowel loops or surrounding venous vessels. The evaluation of the organ is possible by computed tomography (CT), even in cases of very severe pancreatitis with large fluid collections in the retroperitoneum. Encasement of venous or arterial structures due to tumor masses indicates inoperability. (Auth.)
