FASTBUS system. Review

Description

The paper presents basic characteristics and brief description of the FASTBUS system which is a standard modular electronic system for data acquisition, processing and control, designed with consideration for modern requirements for similar systems in high energy physics. The FASTBUS system incorporates separate segments comprising signal lines (bus) and to which modules of the system are connected. The segments can be produced as crates, or represent multicore cable. To one segment may be connected several masters. The system suppose, as a rule the presence of the main computer. Data transmission in the FASTBUS is ten times higher than that of the CAMAC. The possibility of both as asynchronous and synchronous transmission is available. Address field has 32 bits. A brief review on the system introduction has been made
