Description

This paper is a text-book on dosimetry of ionizing radiations. It acquaints the physical foundation and the principles of various dosimetry methods according to the present status of development of this field of physics. Dosimetry is considered as an independent section of experimental nuclear physics. In consecutive order described are the principles of absorbed dose determination, formation and properties of energy linear transmission (ELT)-distributions, microdosimetry problems. The information on physical processes in luminescent and semiconductor detectors are presented. The general regularities are found and the tendencies in dosimetry development and in the systematization of its problems are considered. In the part on metrology the attention is paid to the principles of providing the unity of measurements in the field of ionizing radiations and to the problems of accuracy of determination of dosimetry values. The paper is of use for students as well as for personnel dealing with ionizing radiations
