Epidemiology profile of gastric cancers national cancer institute in period 2007-2011. descriptive study

Full text: Objective: To describe the epidemiological, anatomical and pathological characteristics of patients diagnosed gastric cancer treated at our institution. Methodology: This was a descriptive study in patients with gastric cancer diagnosis the National Cancer Institute (INCA) between January 2007 and December 2011. 105 medical records were reviewed a total of 128 with the diagnosis of gastric cancer. Following information was recorded in a database: sex, age at diagnosis, current patient status (alive, dead, lost to follow up), location the tumor by F GC, biopsy histology in resected specimen F GC or if they had been candidates for surgery, Tnm stage at diagnosis, Her status by IHC and / or FISH. Also obtained Local treatment data and / or systemic performed. The data were processed using SPCS and Epidat software. Results: 39 % of the cases were female and 61% male. The median age of presentation was 62 years. The 5% of the sample were patients under 40 years and 57 % were over 60 years. As regards histologic subtype, 86% were adenocarcinomas, and within these, 57% were subtype and 43 % diffuse bowel.
