Benchmark of hydrogen service stations. Study report

This report proposes a synthetic comparative study of regulations, guides and standards concerning hydrogen service-stations in 2014, and thus aims at determining existing or currently being developed reference documents for the design and exploitation of hydrogen service stations, measures to prevent or reduce effects of fire or explosion, and the possible definition of a safety distance regarding the location of these service stations with respect to other installations, and also at identifying authorisation procedures and institutions and bodies in charge of these authorisations in European and Northern American countries. After a recall of measures aimed at the management of technical and operational risks, and a presentation of the whole set of measures present in reference texts with a synthesis of important issues, the report describes a typology of service stations, analyses returns on experiences, presents and analyses requirements and practices, compares approaches to exploitation authorisation, and proposes a synthesis of recommendations.
