Nuclear shapes of exotic gold and platinum isotopes from laser spectroscopy: the COMPLIS experiment

  • 1. Experimental Research Division, Inst. de Physique Nucleaire, Paris-11 Univ., 91 - Orsay (France)

Description

Resonance Ionization Spectroscopy (RIS) was performed on desorbed 184Aug,m as well as on platinum isotopes and isomers from A = 189 to A 178. The complete hyperfine structure of both isomer and ground state was obtained for 184Au allowing the extraction of the nuclear moments and the change in the mean square charge radius (δ < rc2>) between the ground state and the isomer. In the platinum isotopes, 14 hyperfine structures were measured (12 of the ground states and 2 of 183,185Pt isomers) and the δ < rc2 > was extracted from the isotope shift as well as the nuclear moments when the spin value allowed it.
