High-temperature corrosion of alloyed nickel-carbide eutectic alloys

High-temperature salt corrosion (HTSC) of nickel-carbide eutectic alloys in complex alloying of nickel matrix with chromium (∼18 mas.%), tungsten, molybdenum, cobalt (∼10 mas.% amounting to) is investigated. All alloys investigated are two-phase. Phase components are a complexly alloyed solid solution based on nickel (matrix) and monocarbide of a refractory metal (TiC, ZrC, HfC, VC, NbC, TaC). It is shown that the absence of corrosion penetration in carbide eutectic crystals and closiness of mass loss rate of complex by alloyed nickel-carbide eutectic alloys and matrix (Nilight) testify that HTSC kinetics is mainly determined by properties of an alloyed matrix phase, but not a carbide phase in eutectics
