Training application of nuclear power plant simulators

A discussion is presented of why and how simulators are utilized to train and qualify nuclear power plant operating personnel. A typical training simulator is examined from the standpoint of its makeup and overall development. Various categories of training programs that utilize the simulator are covered in some detail. The USNRC requirements for operator qualification and eligibility are pointed out. Many advantages of simulator training are discussed, including its help in meeting the manpower needs of the fast growing nuclear power industry
