Separation of transition metals by ion interaction chromatography using mixed complexing agents of mandelic and tartaric acids

Description

Separation behavior of transition metal cations on a reversed phase surface modified into ion interaction surface using mandelic and tartaric acids together was investigated with a view developing a method to separate some transition metal elements without interference from associated trace actinides. The study examines the retention behavior of seven metal cations such as Fe+3, Cu+2, Pb+2, Ni+2, Zn+2, Co+2 and Mn+2. Combination of mandelic and tartaric acids as complexing agents in the eluent brought good separation. (author)
