The greatest part of the report is devoted to the description of the control and protection systems of the Chernobyl reactor, reactor process monitoring systems and especially the safety and safety-related systems of the unit. The principal technical and basic physics data concerning the RBMK type power reactor, its primary and gas circuit, the technological layout and the main equipment of the unit are also presented. Finally, the reactor and unit operating modes are shortly described
