Radiation induced polymerization of linearly arranged monomers

  • 1. Nitto Electric Industrial Co. Ltd., Ibaraki, Osaka (Japan)

Description

Dose dependence on polymerization yields of linearly arranged monomers in tubular voids is calculated on the bases of probability theory. It is assumed that all of lengths of monomer sequences are equal and that polymer chains grow one direction from the points of initiations. The relations Ysub(a)=1-1/K(1-e sup(-K)) and Ysub(b)=3/4-1/2K(1-e sup(-K))-1/4esup(-K) are obtained for polymerization yields for a model of ''in-source polymerization'' and a model of ''post polymerization'', respectively. Here, K is the averaged number of initiation radicals produced in a tubular void. (author)
