Thermal conduction and self-similar accretion flows

  • 1. Cambridge Univ. (UK). Inst. of Astronomy

Description

A series of self-similar rotating accretion flows is constructed with the inclusion of a weak shear viscosity and a simple thermal conduction law. Comparison is made with previously published solutions, and the models analysed for convective stability. The solutions, all of which show either slow infall or outflow along the polar axis, are found to share the same convective instability at moderate to high latitudes that besets other self-similar models.
