Description
In order to fabricate large superconducting thin solenoid magnets for colliding beam detectors for high energy physics, it is necessary to calculate unbalanced magnetic forces between the coil and the iron yoke. For this purpose a new computer program using magnetic scalar potential was developed and a reduced model magnet consisting of a normal-conducting coil and an iron yoke was made. The results of these theoretical and experimental researches were applied to a large superconducting magnet, VENUS. (Auth.)
