Description
This paper describes the experimental procedures, testing information and application advantages when neutron radiography is used for non-destructive inspections and quantitative analysis of fuel elements from nuclear power plants. Both the 235U enrichment and the material distribution inside the pellets can be determined by neutron radiography methods for the non-irradiated fuel elements. Both the structural integrity of fuel elements for different reactors such as PWR, BWR, FBTR and the hydrogen accumulation in the cladding material can be inspected for the irradiated samples.
