Helium blistering and hydrogen absorption by Pt-7M and Pt-3V titanium alloys

Description

Specimens of PT-7M and PT-3V alloys (30*30*17 mm) were irradiated with 10-keV H/sup +/ ions in an ILU-1 ion accelerator at 120 and 300/degree/C until a dose of 10/sup 18/-3.10/sup 20/ ion*cm/sup -2/ was attained. As a control, an identical specimen The microstructure of the transverse microsection was studied with an optical microscope in polarized light. The from the beam by diaphragms was mounted along with the irradiated specimen in the same holder. The content of the hydrogen introduced was determined by spectral analysis of both surfaces of the irradiated and control specimens. The hydrogen concentration in the original specimens was 0.003-0.004 wt.%. The microstructure of the transverse microsection was studied with an optical microscope in polarized light. The surface of the targets for studying helium blistering was polished mechanically and chemically. The topography of the surface of the targets after irradiation was examined in a Stereoskan-180 scanning electron microscope. Results are discussed. 9 refs
