Heating rate effect on crystallization of Fe712Co0B16Si4 amorphous alloy

  • 1. Moskovskij Inst. Stali i Splavov, Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

Hypereutectic alloy, prepared by the method of quenchins from a liquid state, of Fe71Co0B16Ci4 naminal composition was investigated in order to reveal regularities of its crystallization and the influence of heating conditions on crystallization process. It is shown that an increase of heating rate from 1 to 50 k/min lads to suppression of primary crystallization according to the mechanism of nucleation and crystal growth in amorphous matrix. Transformation at the first stage proceeds according to eutectic decomposition mechanism with formation of metastable phase. All processes are accompanied by diffusion silicon redistribution among formed phases
