Description

The average maximum luminosity of X-ray bursts is larger than the Eddington limit. A qualitative model is suggested to explain the burst behaviour of 1608-52 observed by Murakami et al. (1980) and the observed variability in the peak luminosity of X-ray bursts. (orig.)
