Methodology for the measurement of radon with passive instruments

  • 1. 4796160ZA

Description

The calibration of passive radon monitors which use electrostatic collection of radon daughters on TLDs is discussed. Results for the fading of TLDs are given. The theory of radon adsorption on charcoal is presented in terms of Langmuir's adsorption isotherm and an equation describing the diffusion process. Experimental results illustrate the effect of temperature. The measurement of environmental radon concentrations by this method is discussed. (author)
