Interaction of europium nitrate with lithium, potassium and cesium nitrates
- 1. Universitet Druzhby Narodov, Moscow (USSR)
Description
New europium complexes Li2Eu(NO3)5x2H2O; K2Eu(NO3)5xH2O; Cs2Eu(N03)5xH2O are prepared. Certain crystallooptical characteristics are determined, Ng are equal to (+-0.002):1.569; 1.572; 1.576 respectively. IR absorption spectra point to a strong coordination of nitrato group, the values of splitting constitute 200, 210 and 220 cm-1 respectively. The X-ray phase analysis is made and interplane distances and relative intensities are determined. Derivatograms are recorded and it is established that dehydration takes place at high temperatures. During the thermolysis of the first complex at the temperature higher than 580 deg C a product similar to LiEuO2 as to the composition is formed. During the heating of the second complex up to 1000 deg C no stable product of decomposition is formed. During thermal decomposition of the third compound higher 980 deg C europium oxide is formed
