Multifunctional X-ray inspection system

  • 1. Sauerwein-Technik GmbH, Haan (Germany)

Description

Radioscopic X-ray inspection systems can be used for the measurement of absorption profiles across specimens. These data are input for the reconstruction of tomographic images. The manipulator of the system is used for the measurement if it has the required mechanical precision. The radiation is detected by an image converter tube. For radioscopic inspection, the image is picked-up by a high-resolution CCD camera with 1024 x 1024 pixels. The video signal is processed by a very fast high-precision image computer in real time. The central section of the converter output screen is depicted on to a linear diode array with 1024 elements. The output of this detector is used for the reconstruction of cross-sectional images. The reconstruction can be accelerated by means of transputers to less than one minute. Extended range objects bigger than the normal detector field can be inspected by multiple measurement of data subsets. (Author)
