Repetitive driving tests on electric wires used in UHV chambers

Description
In a vacuum system of an accelerator, a lot of moving devices are utilized attached with electric wires used for monitoring of a beam-signal, high-voltage and so on. For application of those wires in an ultra-high vacuum chamber, the lifetime of these wires under repetitive operation is a very important item. Six types of wires, four of which are covered with ceramic beads, are tested to examine their lifetimes under repetitive operation. From the results, most recommended wire is the stranded one with silver plated cupper wires, the lifetime of which is more than 50 thousand times. In the present paper, the detailed results of such experimental tests for various wires are reported. (author)
