Waves obliquely incident upon a stratified anisotropic slab A variational reaction approach
Description
The variational reaction theory of Wu and Chen (1985) is used to derive variational equations describing the propagation of EM waves obliquely incident upon an anisotropic stratified cold plasma slab. The resulting expression is then solved using a finite-element approach, as in the variational-electromagnetics method of Jeng and Chen (1984), and numerical results for a magnetized plasma slab and for the model ionosphere of Inoue and Horowitz (1966) are presented in graphs. 15 references
