Anomalous Josephson coupling in YBa2Cu3O7/PrBa2Cu3O7/YBa2Cu3O7 trilayer junctions

  • 1. Advanced Research Lab., Toshiba R and D Center, Kawasaki (Japan)

Description

Josephson coupling between two a-axis oriented YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) electrodes separated by a thick PrBa2Cu3O7 (PBCO) layer has been confirmed. The possibility of microshorts was ruled out because of a proper scaling behavior of the IcRn product values with the PBCO layer thickness. Detailed investigations of the junction resistances for these junctions as well as for YBCO/PBCO/Au junctions have indicated the possibility of the existence of two parallel conduction paths in PBCO.
