Description

The objective of this study was to determine the effects of neutron irradiation at 4.2 K on epoxy and polyimide insulators, and to compare these effects with those from gamma-irradiations at the same temperatures and in the same materials. Several epoxy- and polyimide-based materials were neutron-irradiated to a total dose of 2.6 x 1021 n/m2 En > 0.1 MeV at 4.2 K in IPNS-II. Mechanical strength data revealed that only G-10CR exhibited significant degradation when tested at 77 K
