Chemical decontaminating agent
Description
Purpose: To reduce the volume of wastes and improve the working circumstance by eliminating ammonia odors using non-volatile alkalis. Constitution: A decontaminating agent is prepared by mixing citric acid and oxalic acid each from 0.2 to 0.4 mol to one mol of LiOH or KOH (AC liquid). In this case, the concentration is set to less than 10% and pH to 3-5. Upon decontamination after treatment, for example, with an alkaline potassium permanganate solution comprising 6% KOH and 3% KMmO4 (AP solution), treatment with the AC solution is applied. This enables the treatment for the decontaminating liquid wastes in the waste processing facilities of nuclear power plants and the volume of the wastes can be reduced. (Kawakami, Y.)
