Proton edge radiation interference in synchrotron dipole magnets

Description
The interference of edge radiation of a proton beam shaped on the neighbouring edges of dipole magnets of a synchrotron is considered. Universality of the interfering edge radiation spectrum has been proved. Analytical formulae describing spectral-angular characteristics of radiation are obtained for the case of the edge of the magnetic field having the form of a smoothed step. The beam diagnosis resolution is determined by means of the interfering edge radiation. Conditions, under which observation of an interference picture is possible, are analyzed
