On the γNΔ (1241) coupling constants

Description
It is recalled that the standard mechanism of on-shell rescattering in the (3,3) channel off the Born terms of pion photoproduction, necessary to provide a unitary theory, substantially accounts for the E1+(3/2) multipole. Explicit consideration of dispersive effects allows to estimate the bare γNΔ quadrupole coupling constant and to conclude, from inspection of the resonant (3,3) multipoles, that the Δ is essentially an elementary particle. Existing literature is surveyed. (orig./HSI)
