The image of a brain stroke in a computed tomograph
Description
On the basis of 100 findings from patients who suffered brain strokes and by the use of 1500 ensured stroke images it was tested whether or not the stroke-predilection typologie outlined by Zuelch is based on a coincidental summation of individual cases. The radio-computed tomography with the possibility of evaluation of non-lethal cases proved itself as a suited method for confirmation or repudiation of this stroke theory. By means of the consistently achieved association of the frontal, respectively horizontal sectional image for the typology it could be proven and - with the exception of a few rather seldom types - also demonstrated that the basic and predilection types of brain stroke repeated themselves in their pattern. In individual cases a specification of lower types could also be undertaken. (orig./TRV)
Abstract (German)
Auf der Grundlage von 100 Befunden von Patienten mit Hirninfarkten und unter Verwendung von 1500 gesicherten Infarktbildern wurde geprueft, ob die von Zuelch entworfene Infarkt-Praedilektions-Typologie nicht auf einer zufaelligen Summierung von Einzelfaellen beruht. Die Roentgen-Computertomographie mit der Moeglichkeit der Beurteilung auch nicht letal endender Faelle erwies sich als geeignete Methode zur Bestaetigung oder Verwerfung dieser Infarktlehre. Durch die stets gelungene Zuordnung des Frontal- bzw. Horizontalschnittbildes zur Typologie konnte erwiesen und - von wenigen Ausnahmen meist ohnehin seltener Typen abgesehen - auch demonstriert werden, dass sich die Grund- und Praedilektionstypen der Hirninfarkte in ihrem Muster stereotyp wiederholen. In Einzelfaellen konnte zudem noch eine Spezifizierung in Untertypen vorgenommen werden. (orit./TRV)
