Description
The requirements for a comprehensive up-to-date and accessible information data base and management system in the nuclear power plant environment are closely tied to its quality assurance (QA) program. At Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG and E's) Diablo Canyon Power Plant, such a system is in place, fully operational, and has established a new standard of excellence for information management within the nuclear industry. As a direct result of this system, the functions of plant maintenance, commitment tracking, personnel management, and radiological control are now conducted in a more accurate, timely, and cost-effective manner, with direct positive impact on the operational QA program at Diable Canyon. The plant information management system (PIMS) employed at Diablo Canyon is an integrated system that automates the majority of the plant staff's activities in performing daily and outage maintenance-related tasks
