Neutral open-quote open-quote parent close-quote close-quote states of the ionic He2-4Φg

Description
He2 is examined in the second state of the 3Πg symmetry. This state is shown to be one of the two open-quote open-quote parent close-quote close-quote states of the lowest known stable negative ionic He2- state of the 4Φg symmetry. It is compared with the other parent neutral He2 state, which is the lowest of the 3Δu symmetry, with a consequence that the negative ionic state be a closed channel resonance with respect to both of its neutral parent states. Furthermore the third He23Πg and the second He23Δu states are shown to be the parents of the second He2-4Φg resonance. copyright 1996 The American Physical Society
