Development of the evaporative sodium removal method of the FBR spent fuel subassembly

  • 1. Fuji Electric Co., Ltd., Tokyo (Japan)
  • 2. Central Research Inst. of Electric Power Industry, Komae, Tokyo (Japan)

Description

Sodium removal process of the conventional method using steam and water, usually generate large amount of the radioactive liquid waste. To avoid the problem, we are developing the evaporative sodium removal method. Fundamental experiments had been performed using the single pin model and the seven pins fuel subassembly model, and design study of the sodium removal system was carried out, in collaboration with Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry and Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. during 1984 to 1986. This report describes the knowledge from the fundamental experiments and the outline of the sodium removal system design study based on the experimental data
