Diffusion of waste heat in the atmosphere
Description
Waste heat problems in the atmosphere can only be local problems, although they cover all stages (with a reach) from heat input via a chimney up to influencing the temperature of a town district by the heat input of a town as a whole, the so-called 'Waermeinseleffekt' (heat island effect). This is the problem which is dealt with here. First of all, in section 1 the condition of the carrier fluid is discussed briefly in order to give an introduction to those who are not familiar with aerodynamic processes in the atmosphere. This is followed by a discussion of how heat discharges affect the atmosphere, i.e. in section 2 dry heat input is dealt with - significant in chimney emissions -, and in section 3, finally, humid heat is dealt with, the case of cooling tower emissions. Abstract (German)
Abwaermeprobleme koennen in der Atmosphaere nur als oertliche Probleme auftreten, die allerdings von der Waermezufuhr durch einen Schornstein bis zu der Temperaturbeeinflussung eines Stadtgebietes durch die Waermezufuhr einer Stadt als ganzes, den sogenannten Waermeinseleffekt reichen. Dieses Problem soll hier behandelt werden. Zuerst wird im Abschnitt 1 der Zustand des Traegerfluids kurz besprochen, um denjenigen, die nur geringe Kenntnisse von den aerodynamischen Vorgaengen der Atmosphaere mitbringen, eine Einfuehrung zu geben. Dann soll diskutiert werden, wie Waermeeinleitungen sich in der Atmosphaere auswirken, und zwar wird in Abschnitt 2 die Einleitung trockener Waerme betrachtet, wie sie bei Schornsteinemissionen von Bedeutung ist und zum Abschluss in Abschnitt 3 die feuchte Waerme, das heisst, der Fall der Kuehlturmemissionen.
