Description
We calculate the lowest-lying ''glueball'' mass in three-dimensional Yang-Mills theory based on the SU(2) gauge group by using the source method. Good scaling was observed in the range 4.5 ≤ β ≤ 5.5. We obtain mgα=(8.6±0.8)/β or, in terms of the string tension, mgα=(5.8±0.7)√σ. We discuss its relevance for the gluon plasma and we report the value λ-1=(2.15±0.20)g2(T)T for the confinement static correlation length for the SU(2) gluon plasma. (orig.)
