Description
Observations of the SN 1987A region, obtained in the 637.451-nm coronal forbidden line of Fe X using a reticon-equipped coude echelle spectrograph on the 1.4-m CAT telescope at ESO during April 1987, are reported. The data are presented graphically and briefly characterized. Significant forbidden Fe X absorption is detected in the LMC, at the velocity of the 30 Dor II region. A similar absorption feature is tentatively attributed to Fe X in the Galactic halo. 17 references
