Mass-spectrum for monopoles of integral isospin bag-model as the high isospin limit
Description
In two or three space dimensions solutions of the Yang-Mills-Higgs equations with finite energy 0<E<infinity and unit topological charge exist for all SO(2) and O(3) representations of the Higgs field, and hence define a mass spectrum E(I) where I is the Casimir of the representation. It is shown that E(I) increases monotonically with I, but tends to a finite limit as I → infinity, and that in this limit, the system becomes a bag model, in which the massive gauge fields are completely confined and the Higgs field plays the role of a surface tension.
