Nonadiabatic behavior in atomic and molecular processes: the ridge effect in mode transitions
Description
The authors discuss the nonadiabatic effects in atomic and molecular processes that are localized, in the potential energy surface, along ridges which separate basins corresponding to alternative modes. Simple models for transitions between modes, the physical pendulum and the Henon-Heiles potential of coupled oscillators are examined
