Variable energy microtron a facility for interdisciplinary research
Creators
- 1. Microtron Centre, Dept. of Physics, Mangalore Univ., Mangalagangotri (India)
Description
Although particle accelerators are originally invented to induce nuclear reactions and study nuclear structure, today low energy and medium energy accelerators are extensively used in a variety of basic and applied science research including engineering of new materials. A major program on photon and neutron activation analyses of environmental and geological samples is also being undertaken with the financial support from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India. A birds eye view of these activities and some sample results are presented
