On γ-quanta yield from spherical and cylindrical sources

Description
Considered is the radiation of the hollow spherical and cylindrical source taking into account γ-quanta absorption in a radiator material. Obtained equations determining the radiation intensity in the direction perpendicular to the cylinder axis, and for an arbitrary observation point outside the sphere. The solution describes the radiation of solid sphere and cylinder as a particular case. Calculated are self-absorption coefficients for different ratios of inner and outer radiator diameters. Analysed are the available data on self-attenuation of radiation in cylindrical sources
