Description
The structure, Curie temperature and magnetostriction of multicomponent pseudobinary alloys (Dy0.6Tb0.3Pr0.1)(Fe0.95-xMn0.05Gax)1.85 (0≤x≤0.2) were investigated using optical microscopy, SEM, a.c. susceptibility, X-ray diffraction, diffractometer step scanning and standard strain gauge techniques. It was found that the matrix of these alloys possesses cubic Laves phase structure, and its homogeneity region deviates from the stoichiometric composition. The Curie temperature decreases sharply, but the lattice parameter increases linearly with increasing Ga content. The room temperature magnetostriction λs and easy direction magnetostriction λ111 of the polycrystalline (Dy0.6Tb0.3Pr0.1)(Fe0.95-xMn0.05Gax)1.85 alloys were assessed. (orig.)
