High temperature reactions of MgO doped PSZ

  • 1. Max-Planck-Institut fuer Metallforschung, Stuttgart (Germany, F.R.)

Description

The fracture toughness of MgO doped partially stabilized ZrO2 (PSZ) was measured at room-temperature as functions of annealing temperature and annealing time. Ksub(IC) was measured as a function of temperature up to 13000C in the (a) as-received condition (b) best possible aged (heat treated) condition (c) overaged condition. The results are discussed as functions of the tetragonal phase concentration and the tetragonal particle size. Mechanisms are proposed to explain the high temperature results. (author)
