Multipolarity in the behavior of the rotational echo of complex molecules

  • 1. Inst. of Molecular and Atomic Physics, Minsk (Belgium)

Description

From stipulations for the synchronization of two rotational modes in forming two major pulses of rotational echo, requirements for the alignment of multipoles of orders from two to four are obtained. It is shown that the echo may be detected not only by dipole transitions but also by the anisotropy of physical characteristics described by tensors of ranks form two to four, specifically by the anisotropy of different types of scattering. The alignment of odd-rank tensors in both echo pulses is practically identical. For even-rank tensors, on the other hand, aligned tensor components are substantially different in different pulses. 18 refs., 2 tabs
