Analysis of the impact of distributed microgeneration with the insertion of photovoltaic generators

The objective of this work was to evaluate the ohmic losses in a medium voltage distribution system with the insertion of distributed photovoltaic generators. The analyzes were made through numerous simulations performed in the Simulight software. The system chosen to perform the simulations was the IEEE-33 BUS System, which is a distribution test system with maximum demanded active power of 3,715 MW and nominal voltage of 12,66 kV. The analyzes were performed in a distributed microgeneration scenario, where 10 bars were drawn to the insertion of photovoltaic generation. First we presented a System Base Case without Distributed Generation. Subsequently, 6 cases were calculated in order to analyze the impact of distributed microgeneration with penetration degree of 5%, 10%, 15%, 25%, 50% and 100%. It was found that for the 50% and 100% penetration cases there was tension violation. In order to maintain the voltage at a level considered appropriate for the case of 50% penetration, the strategy of reducing the substation voltage from 1.05 pu to 1.04 pu was adopted. In this way, the condition of maintaining voltages at levels considered permissible was met. It was found that the strategy used for the 50% penetration case was not effective for the 100% penetration case. Therefore, the strategy adopted was to make the photovoltaic generators operate with inductive power factor, causing the reactive to be absorbed. It was concluded that for both cases there was an increase in losses. (author)
